hCG diet becoming big weight loss trend

What is hCG? It's human chorionic gonadotropin -- a pregnancy hormone that when given in very low doses, is thought to cause the body to burn fat faster -- even in men!
The hCG diet is combined with a very low calorie diet of:

  • Protein twice a day
  • Two fruit servings but limited types of fruits
  • Unlimited non-starchy vegetables

"Ninety-nine percent of people will see the rapid weight loss," said board certified nurse practitioner Arlene Loeschen.
Loeschen works with weight loss patients and diabetics at the Wellness Associates of Katy. She says she has 1,000 patients on the hCG diet and 75 percent of them have lost weight.
"The hCG allows the body to get at stored body fat," Loeschen said.

The cost for the pharmaceutical grade hCG, blood work and medical visits is about $100 a week.

If you have questions about the hCG diet, contact the Wellness Associates of Katy  or call 281-647-9950.

Buying meat in bulk great way to save cash

The company is called Zaycon Foods and they host several bulk food events throughout the year. They usually sell one item per event, usually chicken or beef but that has translated to big savings.

The business is based in Washington state and sells food like chicken, pork, beef and fruit in bulk all over the country. There is no limit on how many cases you can purchase but keep in mind, you will have to separate the chicken and store it once you get home, so freezer space is a must.

Bruins surprise serviceman’s parents, bring son home

In honour of the Veteran's Day weekend, the Bruins invited Darren and Lori Jacobs, the parents of Lt. Charles Jacobs, currently serving overseas, to drop the ceremonial puck. For the past seven months, Charles has been in Afghanistan with the 182nd infantry of the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

Or better, "had" been. Unbeknownst to his parents, the Bruins brought him home on leave to join them at centre ice and present them with the puck. Watch and weep:

DEATH OF THE EURO

PREPARATIONS were under way last night for the break-up of the euro as Europe’s debt crisis spiralled out of control.

As Treasury officials worked through the night to soften the impact on Britain, David Cameron warned that the single European currency was facing its “moment of truth”.

Business Secretary Vince Cable went further and spoke about “Armageddon” while Brussels officials warned that the chaos threatened to plunge us all into a new recession.

Ministers are understood to be deeply concerned that French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel are secretly plotting to build a new, slimmed down eurozone without Greece, Italy and other debt-ridden southern Euro- pean nations.

Well-placed Brussels sources say Germany and France have already held private discussions on preparing for the disintegration of the eurozone.

At the same time, City insiders yesterday speculated that the “death warrant” for the euro had already been written, with a new economic bloc dominated by Germany and France almost certain to emerge in its place.

Howard Wheeldon, senior strategist at BGC Partners, said the single currency experiment had failed.

“Undoubtedly it has failed. We know the concept of a single currency was flawed right from the start. There were too many big differences, in language, in culture and in the economies. There is absolutely no chance of the euro surviving in its current form. It cannot happen.

“There are limits to what the markets, the people and the voters will accept. That doesn’t mean the euro won’t carry on with fewer members, but it has been a failure.”

JIM ROGERS On CNBC: 100% Chance of Crisis, Worse Than 2008

The world is definitely going to face another financial crisis stemming from problems in Europe, Jim Rogers said Wednesday.

"We're certainly going to have more crises coming out of Europe and America; the world is in trouble. The world has been spending staggering amounts of money that it doesn't have for a few decades now, and it's all coming home to roost," Rogers, CEO and chairman Rogers Holdings told CNBC.

He added that the crisis would be much worse than the one markets saw in 2008 because the debt is much higher now.

"Last time, America quadrupled its debt. The system is much more extended now, and America cannot quadruple its debt again. Greece cannot double its debt again. The next time around is going to be much worse," Rogers said.

"In 2002 it was bad, in 2008 it was worse and 2012 or 2013 is going to be worse still – be careful," he added.

Obama-administration-opposes-fdr-prayer-at-wwii-memorial

Republican lawmakers and conservative activists are expressing outrage after the Obama administration announced its objection to adding President Franklin Roosevelt's D-Day prayer to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.

"It is unconscionable that the Obama administration would stand in the way of honoring our nation's distinguished World War II veterans," Johnson said. "President Roosevelt's prayer gave solace, comfort and strength to our nation and our brave warriors as we fought against tyranny and oppression."

Roosevelt asked the nation to join him in prayer as U.S. and allied troops launched the invasion that led to the defeat of Nazi Germany. He asked God to give the allied troops courage and faith, saying, "With thy blessing we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy."

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council said it's not all that surprising.

"This is further evidence that the administration has created an environment that is hostile towards American history -- but in particular towards Christianity," Perkins told Fox News. "I hope America wakes up and realizes what this administration is doing to this country and how they want to radically and fundamentally change America."

"They want to erase every aspect of America's heritage," Perkins said of Obama's administration. "Any president, any official in history that has embraced Christianity, is no longer welcome in this administration. That's the environment they are creating."

Obama Busted

Microphones accidently left on after G20 meeting pick up private conversation between US, French presidents. Sarkozy admits he 'can't stand' Israeli premier. Obama: You're fed up with him? I have to deal with him every day!

French President Nicolas Sarkozy reportedly told US President Barack Obama that he could not "stand" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that he thinks the Israeli premier "is a liar."
According to a Monday report in the French website "Arret sur Images," after facing reporters for a G20 press conference on Thursday, the two presidents retired to a private room, to further discuss the matters of the day.
The conversation apparently began with President Obama criticizing Sarkozy for not having warned him that France would be voting in favor of the Palestinian membership bid in UNESCO despite Washington's strong objection to the move.
The conversation then drifted to Netanyahu, at which time Sarkozy declared: "I cannot stand him. He is a liar." According to the report, Obama replied: "You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him every day!"

The remark was naturally meant to be said in confidence, but the two leaders' microphones were accidently left on, making the would-be private comment embarrassingly public.

Bell's Palsy : Foods That Reverse Nerve Damage

Vitamin B12 Foods

Some forms of nerve damage, called neuropathy, occur when the protective coating that covers nerves deteriorates because of physical trauma or biochemical processes. This coating, called myelin sheath, ensures that nerves communicate only with nerves they are supposed to. When the sheath is damaged, nerves can excite nerves they shouldn't. This condition causes feedback loops that create persistent pain even if the original cause of the pain is no longer present. Vitamin B12 participates in the creation, maintenance and repair of nerve cells.

Vitamin B12 foods that can help with neuropathic pain include venison and lamb loin; certain cuts of beef such as chuck, sirloin, tenderloin, rib-eye and ribs; and seafood such as lobster, clams, oysters, mussels, octopus, salmon, sardines, snapper and halibut, according to World's Healthiest Foods and HealthAlicious

Antioxidant Fruits and Vegetables

Foods with vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene or other antioxidants help to heal damaged nerves by neutralizing free radicals. Antioxidant foods include fruits such as raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, apricots, mangos, papaya, guava, pineapple, oranges, tomatoes and red grapes; vegetables such as onion, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, peppers, spinach, sweet potatoes and kale. These fruits and vegetables also support immune system functioning by increasing the production of white blood cells and antibodies, which protect cells from viruses and other micro-invaders. Vitamin E helps to produce killer cells that attack and destroy cancer cells and bacteria, according to AskDrSears.com.

Other Antioxidants

Oils such as soybean, olive, corn and safflower contain high levels of antioxidants, as do whole grains, brown rice, wheat germ, oatmeal and legumes such as beans, split peas and lentils. Green tea also contains high levels of antioxidants.

Further Immune Support

Foods with vitamin E and C function as antioxidants, but also support immune system functioning. Other foods that support immune system functioning include foods with omega-3 fatty acids. These include flax seed, flax seed oil, olive oil and cold water fish, such as cod, salmon, tuna, sardines, halibut and mackerel. These foods help to reduce inflammatory responses and infections, according to AskDrSears.com, which exacerbate neuropathic pain and reduce the amount of oxygen available to cells.

Weekend Meteor Shower

Earth is about to pass through a stream of debris from Halley's comet, source of the annual Orionid meteor shower.  Forecasters expect more than 15 meteors per hour to fly across the sky on Saturday morning, Oct. 22nd, when the shower peaks.

"Although this isn't the biggest meteor shower of the year, it's definitely worth waking up for," says Bill Cooke of the NASA Meteoroid Environment Office. "The setting is dynamite."

Cometary debris streams like Halley's are so wide, the whole Earth-Moon system fits inside. So when there is a meteor shower on Earth, there's usually one on the Moon, too.  Unlike Earth, however, the Moon has no atmosphere to intercept meteoroids.  Pieces of debris fall all the way to the surface and explode where they hit.  Flashes of light caused by thermal heating of lunar rocks and moondust are so bright, they can sometimes be seen through backyard-class telescopes.

Rare 4.6-magnitude earthquake near San Antonio

A rare and record-breaking South Texas earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.6 struck near rural Karnes County on Thursday morning, rattling homes and causing faint tremors in downtown San Antonio.

No injuries or major damage was reported, and the light quake wasn't even noticed by some residents living close to the epicenter, near Karnes City. Yet small vibrations felt in San Antonio did cause occupants to briefly evacuate a downtown federal building as a precaution.

Whitney Houston nearly kicked off Delta flight for seatbelt incident

Whitney Houston got into an argument and was nearly kicked off of a Delta flight on Wednesday, October 12, when the singer refused to buckle her seatbelt.

Before the flight, which flew from Atlanta to Detroit, Houston argued with a flight attendant before she was eventually buckled up, People magazine reports. A source close to the singer told the magazine, "She wasn't drunk, drinking or on drugs; she was just exhausted."
Houston's publicist had no further comment on the incident.

US issues terror alert after Iran plot exposed

WASHINGTON  — The State Department is warning Americans around the world of the potential for terrorist attacks against U.S. interests following the exposure of an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States.
In a new worldwide travel alert issued late Tuesday, the department said the foiled scheme could be a sign that Iran has adopted a "more aggressive focus" on terrorist activity. It said Iranian-sponsored attacks could include strikes in the United States, where the alleged plot against the Saudi envoy was supposed to have taken place, as well as other countries.

Obama Chastises First Lady Over Unsightly Panty Lines

WASHINGTON – In a rare display of harsh criticism, President Obama lambasted First Lady Michelle Obama as she and the presidential children were preparing to board Air Force One. When the President first arrived on the tarmac, minutes after the First Family’s arrival, he was all smiles as he waved to press members and staff that had gathered to see the family embark on their twenty-seven day Caribbean vacation. But Obama’s smile faded when he saw what his wife was wearing. After the initial wave of astonishment washed over him, the President’s face filled with scorn as he let fly a blur of caustic remarks that stunned even the more gruff military and secret service personnel standing nearby.
